Dr Liz Bates
Dr Liz Bates (Franklin) utilises molecular studies to understand the ecology of species and the interactions between them, with a focus on entomology. She has collaborated with the National Botanical Garden of Wales exploring the pollen foraging of urban pollinators using DNA metabarcoding and with the University of Guelph (CA) using microsatellite analyses to investigate nest densities of bumblebees in different habitats. She also has experience of extracting DNA from soil microbes to build community profiles for the University of Plymouth.
